  • Linux microphone for gaming

Anyone have any experience using the audio-technica at2020usb-xp with steam for gaming? I wasn’t able to find a lot out there about this, but the mic looks top notch. Might try it out and see how it works out.

Built in noise suppression, gain control, a headphone monitor, pop screen and all the cabling as well as some good discounted pricing. Looks worth exploring and my bet, since it’s audio-technica, it will just work OOB with Linux. 🙂

  • 2026 the year Linux goes mainstream?

I have been a Linux user for as long as I can remember. It initially started out as a hobby, but turned serious when Windows became increasing frustrating to use day to day. The updates, the failures, the costs, the constant grift of it all, it was just too much. Computing is simply better overall when the OS gets out of the way and lets the user do one thing they want to do and do it well: compute.

This is why I love Linux. Imagine my surprise, recently running across a steam forum post noting Linux is ramping up in the Steam community. For as long as I’ve used Steam, Linux was always at 1% or less overall. This month, no not this month, Linux usage has bumped up to 3.5%! This is great news. Congrats to all the newly freed users! Cheers to hoping this year will be the year Linux goes mainstream. Consider donating to your favorite distribution as you adopt Linux, it really helps. Here’s my favorite: https://linuxmint.com/donors.php

  • The Pixel Grip breakout has begun!

Now, after a few years of slowly growing popularity, the extremely talented Pixel Grip, has just appeared on KEXP. That’s great news! Just a matter of time now, before they become a household name, I hope. They have the talent, and the material at this point,to stand on their own.

Looking forward to seeing them finally get the recognition they deserve for some of their outstanding work.

  • The many to one!

Every now and again, I stumble across something that really just stops me in my tracks. It’s palpably different, and feels like it’s something fresh and new. The potential is there and the talent is clearly evident.

This becomes an ember, which soon may become the all consuming fire of something unstoppable. A force of nature, if you will. Possibly.

Remixes are fairly common, however, the concept of mashups is a little less so. This is where Dreams of Collapse comes in. I ran across this gentleman’s YouTube channel the other day and found some of his work to be quite moving and stunningly good. He seems to be focused on mashing up two separate artist’s songs to create something completely new and different. In addition to this, he also re-imagines and remixes some classics into the same, something completely new and different.

If you are a fan of the artists he’s chosen, which are good artists, I encourage you to subscribe to his channel. He’s very actively engaged there and putting out new material regularly. This is someone to watch, I suspect he will garner quite a bit of attention for the work he’s done and is doing in this area.

  • Great summary for upcoming Mint release, 22.3

Ran across this great video summarizing what’s coming with the latest Mint update. A lot of big changes around the corner, and a lot of enhancements. Check it out:

  • More info on the next Control

So it seems this will be a stand alone game! Wonderful, I certainly hope it’s released to steam at launch. I’m still waiting for Alan Wake II to come to steam, that’s my platform of choice.

  • The Odyssey of Homer

Oh what a day! This looks like another film worth hitting the theaters to see. Is that Matt Damon as Odysseus? I’m going to dust that book off and re-read it before this release. The book is epic, one would have to imagine it cannot be re-imagined in one film. Perhaps this is the start of a new Trilogy or more? Hmm, a trilogy for the Odyssey, LOTR style, then a trilogy for The Iliad, Hobbit style, perhaps??? So, exciting!

  • New Control DLC?

Will it be a DLC for the existing game, or a new game entirely? Either way, this trailer is spectacularly exciting news. This is by far, one of the best game franchises in the industry today.

  • My experience with Cyberpunk 2077

Check out my new cyberpunk review: https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197995290532/

A Grand Theft Auto, Blade Runner, DeusEx, The Matrix, Ghost in the Shell, Shadow Warrior, mashup; that’s the feeling I have while playing Cyberpunk. It’s futuristic nature and grand scale add to the allure. With all the shiny glitz and pomp the story and music really drive the addiction for me. The arc, takes you where you’ve never been, introduces you to people who become as close to family as you can have in a game, and all that, pulls you in and won’t let go.

The skill tree is unique. It’s the way in the game to build your character meaningfully and level up. The interesting aspect of it is, you can’t balance across all skills, you have to focus on specifics. That makes all the difference. Handguns in this game are wild, but paired with your own cyber implants, it goes wild. Smart weapons are fun, hacking them is funner!

Night City is vast. It’s fun to explore. While exploring, the radio creates an ambiance that’s almost soothing. I rarely find myself fast traveling anywhere as a result.

This game has been reviewed many many times, so it’s impossible to add anything unique here. I will say however, whether this game intentionally did this or not, it instills a sense of loneliness. Everywhere you go in the game, you’re surrounded by people but usually alone. When you connect with another in the story-line, they always leave or die. Again, I don’t know if this was intentional, but it’s a feeling that follows you everywhere in the game, and it adds weight to everything you do, every decision you make, and every happy, or otherwise, event.

This game still has bugs, and they are often noticeable, but for all it’s flaws, after having played for some time, I personally feel as though this has created an entirely new genre of game-play that will be mimicked for many years to come.

  • Health’s Conflict DLC

I’m fairly certain Health’s new release contains new material. Side D is exceptionally well done. They get better over time. Check their new release out:
