I have been a Linux user for as long as I can remember. It initially started out as a hobby, but turned serious when Windows became increasing frustrating to use day to day. The updates, the failures, the costs, the constant grift of it all, it was just too much. Computing is simply better overall when the OS gets out of the way and lets the user do one thing they want to do and do it well: compute.
This is why I love Linux. Imagine my surprise, recently running across a steam forum post noting Linux is ramping up in the Steam community. For as long as I’ve used Steam, Linux was always at 1% or less overall. This month, no not this month, Linux usage has bumped up to 3.5%! This is great news. Congrats to all the newly freed users! Cheers to hoping this year will be the year Linux goes mainstream. Consider donating to your favorite distribution as you adopt Linux, it really helps.
